Ferarri Logo History
Marlboro represents the name of team’s main sponsor (a cigarette brand Marlboro). In view of the restrictions on tobacco advertising and the criticism on the topic the team dropped Marlboro and so the shorter version Scuderia Ferrari is most frequently used.
In 1940 Enzo Ferrari inherited the prancing horse badge from Count Francesco Baracca. The prancing horse depicts sportsmanship and gallantry. The Prancing stallion was painted at the sides of the fighter plane flown by the ace Italian Count Francesco Bracca during World War1. He died fighting fearlessly. In 1923, after winning the first Savio circuit in Ravenna Enzo Ferrari met Countess Paolina mother of the count Francesco Baracca. The Countess asked Enzo to use the prancing horse on his cars, as a sign of good luck. The stallion on Baracca‘s airplane was painted in red on a white cloud like shape. Moreover the stallion’s tail was pointing downwards.
Ferarri Logo Design Intricacies
From 1940 onwards Enzo Ferrari started using the prancing horse which eventually became the part of the unique Ferrari logo. The Ferrari horse was black in color on a canary yellow background. The Ferrari logo popularly known as the “Prancing horse” (Cavallino Rampante) is simple but distinctive in design. It consists of a Prancing horse on a yellow shield, with the fonts S F. S F denotes Scuderia Ferrari.
The yellow background depicts the color of the city Modena (being the city’s historic color). Moreover the yellow hue makes it luminous. On the top three stripes of green, white and red colors are painted. These colors magnify the elegancy of the stallion. The prancing horse design is surrounded by a rectangular structure. The Ferrari’s prancing horse is the iconic symbol of power and performance of the racing company.
