T-H-I-N-K – Yes, it is IBM. It was put forward by Thomas J. Watson as IBM’s motto by saying “Thought has been the father of every advance since time began. ‘I didn’t think’ has cost the world millions of dollars.” IBM has been a hurricane for computing business. It revolutionized the PC world which we, now, can’t picture without IBM. It is not possible that a computer literate has not heard of it. The world has become so computer oriented that even a non-computer literate would recognize IBM easily.

- They devote and commit for the feat of IBM customers.
- They contribute their brains and come up with the novelties and improvements beneficial for both the company and its consumers.
- They develop relationships based on trust and responsibility.
For the clients and consumers, the logo is an assurance of reliance, worth, excellence and cutting-edge technology with innovative ideas. The logo when seen engraved on an IT system signifies the capability of its “powerhouse” to provide reliability and quality products with exceeding services.
A history makes the emblem to predict IBM’s future and represent its present
The company’s logo holds a history. It evolved with time, getting much better with every evolution. The man who is responsible for creating the present and previous logos for the company is Paul Rand, a graphic designer.
The first version of the company’s insignia represented a globe bounded with the word ‘International’ of the IBM. ‘Business’ and ‘Machines’ came up and down of that gird, respectively. The idea behind the earth shape was to feature the ‘worldwide expansion’ of the company. The font used was Sans Serif. The logo was not patron friendly and was abandoned. The second version of the logo was much simple and outgoing. It was the text “IBM” in bold Beton font. The third version was a little enhancement to the second one giving it a more authoritative and kingly look. It was boldly solid and has City Medium typography.
The fourth and the final version came in 1972. The strong and concrete” IBM” was transformed to horizontally striped or eight barred “IBM”. These lines epitomize the swiftness and vivacity of the company. The letters of IBM were kept bold to represent its power. The power of IBM over its areas of expertise, its rule over innovations, its strength in eminent services and its promise of trust, all, are guaranteed with its emblem. The logo reflects that from hardware to research IBM knocks the race.
