A musical group which touched the bounties of success because of their tremendous works in progressive rock is Pink Floyd. The band is unique in a sense of their work which made use of the deep-thinking librettos, auditory trialing, innovative album arts, and expounded live shows. Its logo characterizes the band as one of the top and influential rock music bands of all times. The emblem is so popular that it still appears on different products by different companies to promote their sale as a marketing strategy. For example, some T-shirts bear the Pink Floyd insignia and have been sold recording previous sales records.

The Pink Floyd – A rock musical group

Pink Floyd, also known as The Tea Set, The Pink Floyd Sound, The Pink Floyd, and The Floyd, is a British Rock musical band that originated in Cambridge, London. It was founded in 1965 by some university students namely Roger Waters, Nick Mason, Richard Wright and Syd Barrett. The music genre they worked on and played are progressive rock, psychedelic rock, experimental rock, and avant-garde. In 1967, they produced their first successful album “The Piper at the Gates of Dawn”, and gave the rock music lovers two outstanding singles, “Arnold Layne” and “See Emily Play”. David Gilmour joined the group in 1968 as a guitarist and vocalist. Barrett who was the primary lyricist left the band due to some medical ailment, and Roger Water took over his responsibilities along with being bassist and vocalist. They, then, produced highly popular “The Dark Side of the Moon”, “Wish You Were Here”, “Animals”, and “The Wall”. Wright and Waters also left the group in 1979 and 1985 respectively. Gilmour and Mason continued together with the band and rock music until 1996 and gave the rock lovers two more rocking albums “A Momentary Lapse of Reason” and “The Division Bell”. The whole group was once again seen united in 2005 for a performance at Live 8.

The Floyd Logo

There have been three logos of Pink Floyd. The first logo is just the band’s name. The second logo is again the band’s name but appearing in a square. The ‘K’ of the Pink is given the color pink making it relating to the name of the band. It is also overextended a bit forward that makes it appealing and attractive at once. The third logo is small, but has a very characteristic O which is iconic and that catches all the attention and makes it acceptable and liked all around the world. All the three logos are quite different from each other in grabbing the attention of people, though not much visually different. Though the name of the band is Pink Floyd, it occurs instantly that the logo would have been given pink color as well. But, no, the logo has black and white colors that are used in all its emblems. A tint of pink is also used that represent innocence. The typeface used in first and last Pink Floyd logos is relatively simpler than the second one, but is stylish and elegant in its own way. The second logo has somewhat funky and groovy typeface which makes it different and stand out in the crowd.
