Queen – the musical band
Long before when the actual meaning of rock music was not popular, Queen came forward in 1971 and is still ruling the music industry with its rocking rock songs. It is a British rock musical group that was formed in London by its former members Freddie Mercury, Brian May, John Deacon, and Roger Taylor. Among them, Brian May and Roger Taylor are still in the industry belonging to Queen. In the beginning of their musical careers, they produced some progressive rock music which did not get much recognition and applaud from the audience. With the passage of time and by getting into the tastes of public in music, they brought forward some class rock music that was conventional and radio friendly. It was the mid of 1970s when the band gained popularity and its music became famous. Some of the initial biggest hits of the band were from the albums “Sheer Heart Attack” and “A Night at the Opera” which were released in 1974 and 1975 respectively. “A Night at the Opera” included the millennium hit which is still a hit in its own unique way and that is “Bohemian Rhapsody”.
The members of the group gradually reduced because of the deaths of Mercury in 1991 and Deacon in 1997. Queen, though, performed in partnership with Paul Rodgers under the name of Queen + Paul Rodgers but the group effort did not last long and ended in May 2009. Since then the band is run by Brian May and Roger Taylor.
Queen logo – AKA Queen Crest
Like the name of the band has its significance as said by its setter that though the name Queen is just a name but possesses a majestic impression and sounds magnificent and that it would have a strong impact on the audience, the Queen logo has the same universal and immediate acceptance. The emblem is visually very powerful and inspiring.
The emblem for their band was designed by Mercury who was also a student of an art college. It was given the name of “Queen Crest”. He combined the zodiac signs of all the four members of the group and made an insignia. The zodiac signs were two lions of Leo (Deacon and Taylor), a crab of Cancer (May), and two fairies of Virgo (Mercury). The two lions cuddle the stylized letter Q of Queen. The crab is at its top with the flames reaching it. The fairies are sheltering below each lion. A crown is significant to Queen so a crown is also there inside the Q. The complete emblem is over-shadowed by a huge phoenix. The first and original Queen logo was not a crest, but simple text “Queen”. It first appeared on the back of their first album “The Works” in 1984. The typeface is roman, a bit bold and with defined curvatures
The modern Queen crest goes well with the name of the band and has the same elegant, classical and royal like feeling. It resembles more like the Royal coat of arms of the United Kingdom. Moreover, like the band’s success and the line-up of its musical hits in the movie industry too like Happy Feet, Ice Age, Step Mom, Chicken Little and many more, the emblem truly stands for them all. The metallic bronze, mustard and white color used in the emblem sets well with the outstanding musical band.
