Ever since 2009, (with the end of the Seattle Post-Intelligencer) The Seattle Times has been the most popular and biggest daily newspaper in the state of Washington. The Seattle Times Logo is unique, yet simple and has continued to capture the eyes of readers over the years. To this day, this newspaper sells consistently and shows no signs of slowing down any time soon.
The Seattle Times Logo: One Ending Is A New Beginning
Before The Seattle Times was as wide-known as it is now, it was a simple 4-page newspaper that started in the year 1891. After changing the name to The Seattle Times in 1896; it more than doubled the amount of prints (70,000 at the time). As of the end of 2010, the weekly circulation number reached an all-time high of almost 252,000. As of 2012, the newspaper is still selling strong.
Seattle Times, A Logo To Remember
The Seattle Times Logo has not changed much at all over the years. With its mixture of a lovely font that is easy to read; yet a bit on the creative side and the addition of the beautiful Eagle later on; this logo is one that will not soon be forgotten. It’s a lot like the Starbucks logo. Once you see it, you are never going to forget it. It becomes a part of your life and your every day.
Before The Seattle Times Logo was the colorful logo of today, it started as simply reading “The Seattle Times REPRESENTING THE Seattle Post Intelligencer”. When the Intelligencer stopped in 2009, the paper began its own history. From there, The Seattle Times Logo read “The Seattle Times” in all black lettering.
Seattle Times Love To The Whole Country
As time went on, the logo changed, as a beautiful Eagle with its wings spread was added underneath the title. In later years, the logo was changed yet again; this time with color being added.
This was a true turning point for the company; as their logo created quite a bit of buzz. Featuring an Eagle on The Seattle Times Logo was a great business move, as it showed the rest of the country how in touch with the rest of the United States the newspaper was. They may have based from Washington, but they showed true passion for the rest of the citizens of the United States.
The addition of the Eagle to the paper could have gone either way. By putting something so related to the entire country on your paper, you are not only paying homage but you are putting yourself up for quite a bit of criticism as well.
The Seattle Times Stays Strong
This brought quite a bit of attention (both good and bad) to the newspaper. As you can see, after all of that time, this newspaper is still standing strong; and although The Seattle Times Logo changes a bit here and there, it stands its ground by sticking with the same general concept.
With simplicity and strong meaning nation-wide; it’s hard not to respect this paper for all that they have done and all they continue to do.
